Instant, Non-Surgical Chin Implant!
Whether you were born with a weak chin, or have acquired it over time as a result of the aging process, the latest Juvederm filler Voluma® may be a quick solution for you. What is a weak chin? If one takes a profile picture (a side shot), the chin should be at or beyond a line dropped down from the lower lip in men. Women are a little different, ideally their chin should sit just behind that line. If the chin does not protrude to these aesthetic standards, we call it “weak.”
Why is this important? Chin position carries with it very significant attributes. Strong chins are associated with leaders, strength and virility. People with weak chins are often thought of as weak, frail, etc.
Up until recently, solutions for weak chins involved cutting the chin bone and sliding it forward and securing it with metal plates or wires. This procedure is called a genioplasty. Another option, and a more common, simpler procedure, is to build up the chin with a chin implant. Chin implants come in a variety of sizes and shapes to allow the surgeon to customize the implant to the individual patient. Implants are placed on the end of the jaw bone and require a trip to the operating room. Recovery time for these procedures vary from patient to patient but are generally about 1-2 weeks.
